Hepatozoon canis- A New Menace to Dogs

Hepatozoon canis is a one-celled haemoprotozoa that is usually transmitted by tick Rhipicephalus sanguineus.

Because of the long time interval between becoming infected and developing illness, this disease is not just seen during the tick season, but all the year-round. Originally it was reported by James (1905) in India.
